The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration About Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
